Welcome to Bears Perth – Where the Bear Community Comes Out to Play!

Bears Perth is a cosy den where men can connect, socialise, and build community in a warm, welcoming environment. Whether you're a grizzly old-timer, a cuddly panda, a brawny polar, or a curious cub dipping a toe into the bear scene—you don’t need to be big, bearded, or burly to belong.

If you identify as male (including cis and trans men), you’re welcome in our bear cave.

While we serve up plenty of bear hugs and cheeky banter, Bears Perth is not a sex club—we’re more about shared laughs than shared towels. Think community cuddle puddle, not sauna sausage sizzle.

First time sniffing around the den? Don’t worry—we’re a friendly mob of furballs who love meeting new faces. Our events are perfect for breaking the ice (or breaking out of hibernation). Come as you are—we'll make sure you feel right at home.

Wanna stick around? We’d love for you to become a member and officially join the pack. Trust us—it’s un-bear-ably fun.

Events – Bear Hugs, Belly Laughs & Big Nights Out

From casual catch-ups to our biggest annual blowout, Bears Perth runs events all year round. Non-members are always welcome unless otherwise stated—check our events calendar for what's coming up.

🐻 Den Nights – The beating heart of our community

What: Relaxed, welcoming social evenings
Who: Male and male-identifying (including cis and trans men)
When: 2nd Saturday and 4th Friday of each month
Where: Loton Park Tennis Club, Highgate
Cost: Free for members, $5 for guests

All bears are welcome—grizzlies, otters, bear-attracted, big or small, hairy or smooth. These are relaxed nights to hang out, unwind, and connect with the community.

Community Den Nights are held several times a year and are open to all genders, partners, friends, and chosen family. They’re a great way to share the inclusive spirit of our club.

Note: We hibernate during late December and January, so there are no Den Nights during this time.

🤠 Western Roundup – Saddle up, stud

What: A five-day bear bonanza full of parties, performances, and the Mr Bear Perth competition
Who: Everyone’s welcome (except Growl: Underbear, which is for male and male-identifying people only)
When: Every September long weekend
Where: Loton Park, Connections Nightclub, Perth Steam Works and more
Cost: Prices vary and are shown on the event pages

Contestants compete for the Mr Bear Perth sash and the chance to represent our community. The vibe? A hootenanny of the highest order—party time, celebration and bear pride on full display.

🐾 Growl – Where the wild bears are

What: Late-night, adults-only events with a cheekier energy
Who: Strictly male and male-identifying (including cis and trans men)
When: Several times per year (check events calendar)
Where: Perth Steam Works
Cost: Listed on each event page

Growl is steamier than our regular events—after-dark socials where the claws come out and inhibitions stay home.

🎲 Game nights, Dungeons & Daddies (er, Dragons), and casual catch-ups

What: Low-key social events for gamers, geeks, and fun-loving bears
Who: Male and male-identifying (including cis and trans men)

Whether you’re rolling dice, slapping down wild cards, or just hanging out, these nights are great for connecting with fellow nerdy bears in a chill setting.

Den Night Etiquette – Respecting Each Other in the Den

Bears Perth is proud to host safe, welcoming spaces where all male-identifying people can connect and feel at home. While we love to keep things relaxed and friendly, it’s important that everyone attending our events understands and follows a few key expectations:

  1. This is a social space, not a sexual one.
Our events are about community and connection, not cruising. You might meet someone special, but our events are not sex-focused or sexually charged environments.
  2. Consent is essential.
Always ask before touching, hugging, or entering someone’s space. No assumptions.
  3. Dress how you like—but stay within venue guidelines.
We want you to express yourself and feel comfortable, whether that’s jeans and a tee or full leather. But as Loton Park is a licensed venue, full nudity is not permitted.
  4. We are proudly inclusive of all men.
Cis, trans, big, small, hairy or smooth—if you identify as male and connect with our community, you're welcome. We are especially proud to support diversity—Mr Bear Perth 2024 is a proud trans man—and we expect all attendees to treat one another with respect and dignity.
  5. Respect differences
Some folks are chatty, others quiet. Some are neurodiverse. Let everyone engage on their own terms.
  6. No photos without permission.
We protect everyone's privacy. Recording is not allowed unless approved by the committee.
  7. Alcohol is served responsibly.
Enjoy a drink if you like, but please drink responsibly and know your limits. Intoxicated or disruptive behaviour isn’t tolerated.

Look for committee members wearing orange name badges if you need support or have concerns.

FAQs – First Time at Loton Park?

We know that first time visiting the den can be a little unnerving, but don’t worry—we’ve got your back (and your paws, and your fur). Every bear started as a shy little cub.

  1. Where do I enter?
Via Bulwer Street—look for the open gate near the city side. Follow the ramp to the main deck for sign-in.
  2. Is there public transport nearby?
Yes! Take the 41, 42, 48, 55, or 652 bus and hop off at Stop 11656 on Lord Street.
  3. Can I park nearby?
Along Bulwer Street or on the grass via the driveway. Drive safely—especially after drinks.
  4. I don’t know anyone-help?
Every big bear starts as a shy cub. Come say hi to a committee member (look for orange name badges). We’ll get you mingling.
  5. Can I change clothes at the clubhouse?
Yes! There’s a large accessible bathroom.
  6. Is the venue accessible?
Yes—ramp access to the deck, clubhouse, and accessible bathroom. The smoking area is stairs-only, but we keep the action on the deck.
  7. Is there a bar?
Absolutely. Beer, wine, premix, and soft drinks. EFTPOS only at the bar.
  8. Do you accept cash or EFTPOS?
We accept both at the entry table and for raffles. Bar is EFTPOS only. Memberships can be paid online or at the door.
  9. Still have questions?
Contact us! One of our friendly committee members would love to help.
